Why They Don’t Accept Your Spiritual Gift in the Church

Have given you a spiritual gift or but those in the do not accept your gift and or ministry? We are in a church era where the masses are comfortable with having church as usual; they are not so much interested in the manifestation of the Holy Spirit in the church, unless it is coming from the pastor or an officer of the church.

We are also living in a church era where the people are only comfortable speaking about what the Apostles and Prophets of old did, but not what God can do, and is doing today.

This can be very frustrating, especially for those that are young in the ministry. Many people have aborted their ministry and or gifts, especially gifts of and discernment of spirits, because of the harsh criticisms and treatment of their fellow church brethren.

But why is this so? After all the Apostles manifested the ? Here are 4 reasons why people may reject your spiritual gift and or ministry in the church.

  1. You need to change your approach.

The problem may not be that your leaders do not recognize that you have a spiritual gift or ministry, but the problem may just be how you go about doing the work of the Lord. When someone do not accept us, it is very easy for us to think that the other person doesn’t like us or the problem is the other person, but what if it is something we are doing wrong?

[pullquote]Jesus encourages his disciples that when they are persecuted for his sake they should not retaliate or hates those who oppose them but rejoice[/pullquote]

When we realize that there seems to be a problem, we need to check our approach:

  1. Am I ministering the gifts in a loving, and non-judgmental manner? (Rom 14:4, Matt 7:1-2)
  2. Am I sharing my insight in a natural and relaxed way?
  3. Am I refraining from using Christian or prophetic language the receiver may not relate to or understand?
  1. Jesus was also rejected by the leaders and ‘church’ folks of the time, you are no exception

When we read the scriptures we notice that throughout Jesus ministry he went about ministering to the needs of the people, you would have think that the people would have accepted him but the opposite happened. Jesus continually faced oppositions from the religious leaders of the time.

[tweetthis]Not everyone will accept your gift, but they can’t stop you as God is your boss[/tweetthis]

In one of Jesus ‘talk’ with his 12 disciples, he told them that they do will face persecution, ‘If the head of the house has been called Beelzebul [prince of demons], how much more the members of his household!’ (Matt 10:25)

Jesus encourages his disciples that when they are persecuted for his sake they should not retaliate or hates those who oppose them but rejoice “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” –Matthew 5: 11-12

[tweetthis]No one can fire you as they didn’t hire you. If God calls you to do a job, no weapon……[/tweetthis]

We too should do the same. As believers gifted with the gifts of the Spirit we should expect oppositions even from those in , but we should always remember that God will fight our battles because the weapons the enemy sends to destroy us God will use them to elevate us and make us stronger and more influential (Isaiah 54:17; Daniel 3: 19-30)

  1. You are facing

Many times when we think of Spiritual Warfare we think of fighting demons, but also uses people to carry out his will, sadly he also uses people in the church. Think about how Jezebel responded to Elijah ministry in 1 Kings 19. Just like how God has position people in the church to help your ministry to grow; in similar manner the enemy realizing who you are has position people in the church to stop you.

Learn this, the enemy hates gifted people, especially those that knows who they are and are not afraid to do the will of God.

  1. The church do not believe in the manifestation of the gifts of the Spirit

Sadly, many churches do not believe in the manifestations of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. They believe that the gifts of the Spirit no longer are in the church and God do not speak or uses people like he did in the days of the prophets and apostles and so they will try to shut down anyone who professes to be hearing from God or operating in any of the Gifts of the Spirit.

If you find yourself in this form of environment you need to seek God for guidance and what to do as this environment will stiffen your gifts.

As people of God, we should not allow anyone person, or group to stop us from doing the will of God. Resist the temptation to throw in the towel, fight back, or to feel discourage. Let God fight your battles. Remember, God is the one that hires you, so he is the only one that can fire you.

How to Worship God in Spirit and Truth

The bible let us know that God is a jealous God and him only should we serve (Matthew 4:10). We therefore see in the bible that when men and women turned from worshipping the true and living God then his wrath is kindled against them (Jeremiah 19:3-6;23:39-40), why is this so? Because we were created to offer true worship, not from our lips only, but from our heart, unto our creator.
