Five Steadfast Ways to Overcoming Difficult Seasons in Life

For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven.
-Ecclesiastes 3:1.

Life is a changing season—oftentimes, it can be a season of sunshine, a season of rain, or a season of growing. Moments can change far too quickly that you may not even know what to do. You smile today, you cry tomorrow, and the next day, you laugh. Truly, life can be full of surprises. And sometimes, surprises can’t be all good, especially when you are dealing with difficult situations.

There are moments when you are going through tough times and unwanted seasons. These are moments of isolation, scarce blessings, or waning health, and these are the seasons you hate to experience—they will come anyway. So how will you face these “dark seasons” of your life?

If you are in the battle zone, trusting God can be the best choice in tough times. Here are five Christian ways to overcome these difficult seasons in life:

For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long.
-2 Corinthians 4:17

“This too shall pass.” Repeat this mantra whenever you feel stressed. If someone causes you anger, “this too shall pass.” If you feel lost after a break-up, “this too shall pass.” Yes, life can be swarmed with bad times but they do not last forever.

Like seasons of weather, there will always be a next and new season. So if you are in a stormy season, remember you’ll always get through it, and someday this season will plant a seed that will grow bountiful blessings for the next season.

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds
-Psalm 147:3

You have someone to lean on. There are many of us battling our own battles, fighting our own demons. And no matter how lonely and alone you feel you are, we are all in this dirt hole together. Someone out there is fighting the battle alongside with you. That someone could be family or friend. Reach out for help and help each other.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God.-Philippians 4:6

There’s always a grateful thing each day. Rather than complaining and crying, you should look onto the bright side of life instead. Find that one thing that will make your day better and let it be a source of positive energy. Wake up each day for the beauty and bliss that is life.

An attitude of gratitude even for the small things in life can make dark seasons less miserable. Praise in thanksgiving, for God will always put beauty in every chaos.

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. -James 1:2-4

Find the chance to grow each season. Transform wounds into wisdom, aches into lessons, and bad experiences into growth. You all have the chance to turn the negative things into positive ones, and an avenue for spiritual and emotional self-growth.

Your experiences are God’s gift for you to learn something important. So as when trial comes, remember He didn’t forget you and even made the chance to keep you grow each season.

Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you; he shall never permit the righteous to be moved. -Psalm 55:22

If life gets too hard to stand, kneel. God is always at work in each season you are in. There’s always a reason for every season of fruitfulness and the season of difficulty. No matter how hard life maybe, pray for courage and acceptance.
