5 Things You Can Do To Be Spiritually Happier Right Now

Being spiritually happy for many of us is a goal that one
aspires to. However, there are some things that you can do right now to be
spiritually more happy, to feel closer to God, and to feel more comfortable
with ourselves and our faith. The best part is that you can start to do all of
these things right now.

1. Start Your Day in Conversation With God

Start
each day telling God one thing you are thankful for. Pray that the Lord grants
you wisdom and peace in this day and that you’re allowed to feel God’s presence
all through the day. In doing so, you will allow begin your day knowing that
you are in God’s hands. Recognize that there is nothing that this day can throw
at you that you can’t get with the Lord at your side.

2. Be Kind to Your Neighbor

Jesus
showed us what radical love looked like. When faced with hate and unkindness,
Jesus unfailingly chose love and so you can you. To be a little more
spiritually happy today, try committing to doing a small act for someone else.
This will allow you to do something pleasing in God’s eyes and also vanquish
some of the darkness that is all too common in society. It will leave you
feeling more spiritually sound.

3. Meditate

The
Bible teaches that meditating can be a useful tool for connecting with God.
Unfortunately many believe that meditation is too time-consuming or that we
need extensive training in order to do it. This is not the case. You can meditate
for five minutes by sitting in peace, focusing on your breathing, and centering
your energy on connecting with God. Even in this small amount of time, you will
find yourself more calm, more peaceful, and ultimately more spiritually happy.

4. Journal

Journaling
can be a great way of keeping track of your thoughts, but also can have a profound
effect on your spiritual happiness. You can record both your moments of
spiritual clarity and your moments of spiritual confusion. Over time, you can
review these notes and see all the things you’ve overcome as well as the work
that still need to be done. An added benefit is that you will feel lighter as
you let out the things that are weighing you down spiritually.

5. Forgive

When we
don’t forgive people who have wronged us, we carry around a burden that dampens
our internal light and our spiritual happiness. Reflect on your life and the
people who have hurt you. There may be people in your life who you’ve forgotten
about but haven’t forgiven. As a result, subconsciously you can be holding on
to this burden. Try saying out loud that forgive anyone who has brought you
harm, and chances are you will feel a little more spiritually happy.

I am a Christian, writer, speaker, and advocate for the most radical weapon of them all: love. In my spare time, I like to play the tuba, travel, and sing badly until my roommate tells me to quiet down. Something funny I would do is (quite unfortunately) trip on stage in front of a hundred people. You can find more about me at www.callofliberation.com.
